Community work for Amy
Thammasat University yesterday instructed student actress Chotiros ''Amy'' Suriyawong to carry out community service for 15 days after reprimanding her for ''dressing inappropriately'' during a film awards ceremony last Friday. Prinya Thaewanarumitkul, the university's vice-rector for student affairs, said the punishment for Ms Chotiros, a fourth-year student of the liberal arts faculty, was fitting and did not infringe on her student and individual rights.
The actress hit the headlines when she wore a revealing ''safety-pin'' gown during the Subhannahongse Film Awards ceremony in Nakhon Ratchasima.
Mr Prinya said Ms Chotiros' community service consisted of reading books for visually-impaired students at the university library for 15 days.
Other student actors and actresses were urged to shun ''inappropriate'' outfits in a campaign to dress properly to set a good example to other students, he added.
I wonder when the yentas at Thammasat University will call out for Thai politicians to be punished for their obscenities.
While poor Amy will be helping the blind, Thai politicians will continue to steal from the blind.
