The Nation: Thaksin Says Bye Bye to Edelman

Thaksin ends PR contract amid flak

The Nation

Deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has terminated his association with United States-based public relations company Edelman.

The move is a bid to end allegations he hired the company to lobby Washington to place Thailand on a list of copyright violators, his lawyer said yesterday.

Noppadon Pattama denied Thaksin hired Edelman to generate publicity against Thailand and that the company was behind the downgrade of Thailand's trade status with the US.

"To prevent further misunderstanding, Thaksin cancelled his contract with Edelman," he said.

Now who are all the lazy reporters and wacky Thai politicians going to blame now?

It was easy for them to cook up moronic conspiracy theories that they didn't have to prove.

Is that ego-maniac publicity-seeking Thaksin Shinawatra finally coming to his senses?

Maybe and maybe not. It is just very very difficult to ever trust Thaksin Shinawatra again! Hey - his family still owes Thailand taxes to the tune of Baht 28 billion and that was only the first assessment. If we count the sister(s), brother in-law, driver, cook and maids who helped Thaksin conceal his assets and evade his Thailand taxes, the amount of taxes finally due from the Shinawatras would probably be much much more.

So for that reason alone (tax cases), I do believe the Thaksin mischief and his campaign to discredit the government of Surayud and the Kingdom will NOT stop.

Matty-

What evidence do you have the Thaksin is causing mischief and discrediting the kingdom since the coup?

Please stay in the real of facts rather than conspiracy theory.

Fonzi the Thai people are NOT stupid. Have you read the recent ABAC poll? Overwhelming majority of those polled (Bangkok and rural respondents) believe that Thaksin actively 'funds' negative campaigns against the Kingdom of Thailand, Edelman included.

I personally believe Thaksin is malice incarnate.

The Thai people ARE stupid, and their opinions don't matter.

After all, they did vote for Thaksin...

The majority of Thais arent stupid but are not well educated, somethignt that suits the ruling elite pretty well. The minority ruling class arent stupid either. Greedy yes, avaricious yes, corrupt yes, arrogant, egotistical and egocentric yes, exploitative and manipulative yes, ruthless and unconscionable, yes.

But not stupid, though I myself thought so for a long while.

We will eventually know how the saga of Thaksin ends . . . which should confirm whether or not the Thai people are stupid.

If Thaksin or any of his immediate kins get convicted and jailed, then we should be able to see the Thais in a different light, and stupid the Thais will be seen as NOT!

If Thaksin gets away and even manage to make his comeback . . . we'll the Thais would then join the Pilipinos, the Indonesians, even the Singaporeans as a bunch of stupid Asians.
