Bangkok Post Still Propagating for Terrorist PAD

PAD warns new PM of abuses of power

BangkokPost.com

People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) coordinator Suriyasai Katasila on Monday warned newly elected prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva not to be preoccupied with power and advised him to study cases of the Thaksin regime

Referring to the Thaksin Shinawatra regime, Mr Suriyasai claimed that the regime collapsed despite its vast capital and state powers because it lacked righteousness.

He said the government’s stability is determined by its performance and public approval, not the number of seats in the parliament.

Mr Suriyasai said the PAD will give some time for the new government to work but the group will also monitor its performance closely.

If there are suspicious activities from the government, such as the selection on cabinet members and the constitution amendments, the PAD would be ready to protest again, he added.

He suggested that the new cabinet line-up should comprise individuals who are outside the political ring and have high credibility.

The PAD coordinator also called on the government to implement self-sufficient economic plans rather than following the capitalist economic system as before. If the government does not dare to reform the society, Thai people would still suffer from poverty and violence, he said.

On the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD)’s violent reaction after Mr Abhisit was elected as premier, Mr Suriyasai said public members knew that the UDD supporters were doing everything for Mr Thaksin.

Unlike the UDD, the PAD demonstrated for political reform, he added.

Typical of the Bangkok Post to continue to be the spokespaper for the PAD. Notice that neither The Nation nor The Bangkok Post have called for the arrest of the PAD leaders for taking over Government House and the airport, which cost the people pain, money and hardship.

Instead, the Bangkok Post gives voice to the PAD's outrageous hypocrisy. These criminals should be in jail, not threatening the government with more terrorism if it doesn't bow down to the PAD's demands.

Makes me angry. :( This stupidity that is Thailands politics. I have once again stopped following things for two weeks after I got mentally stressed by all this.

"He said the government’s stability is determined by its performance and public approval, not the number of seats in the parliament."

Anyhow, I guess that should read "determined solely by PAD's approval".

I do not understant, doesnt government have right to change and amend the constitution through the processes defined in the laws. It is not up to PAD to approve anything. Now essentially they got this huge card in their sleeves, "unpunished airport siege" that they don't even have to mention, just threaten that "if we don't like then..."

Besides, the interim government and all those meddling military hotshots said at the end of 2007 that if government sees it fit, the constitution should be changed as this was done in such a haste. Why PAD wont even try to remember that.

I believe Thailand has degenerated to near anarchy . . . with Thais abandoning due process and redress of grievances from rule of law.

The straw that broke the camel's back was the runaway criminal run by Thaksin Shinawatra which includes extra-judicial killings and rampant corruption.

Thaksin Shinawatra is still a fugitive from justice and his wife tagged, but not jailed, for tax evasion.

Do you wonder Fonzi why the yellow shirts and the red shirts completely disrespect the police and the judges?

Vichai N,
Thaksin has many faults but he isn't responsible for everything bad that ever happened and he was not anywhere near the first Thai to get away with doing something a bit dodgy.

I think the first significant twisting of the Thai legal system that I know of was the prosecution and execution of the staff of the late King Ananda to satisfy the ex-japanese puppet PM Phibun's need to get rid of the first democratic election supporter Pridi Banomyong

I guess the PAD are merely following this great fascist tradition

which includes the great success story of the "runaway criminal run by Thaksin Shinawatra" who has been convicted, of conflict of interest, in a court case where the judges saw fit to change a legal definition previously ruled by the Supreme Court.

perhaps it was in a previous incarnation that Thaksin organised the legal twist for Phibun? and now is suffering the same fate at the hands of the PAD?
