Andrew Walker and Kavi on ABC radio (Australia)

Thailand's red revolt

A discussion about the political turmoil in Thailand, brought on by the red-shirted supporters of the former prime minister, Mr Thaksin, and aimed at the government of Abhisit Vejjajiva. This is the second major 'popular protest' against an incumbent government in a short period of time and may lead to significant political reforms in the Thai kingdom.

It was a good interview. Andrew did well and a got a little dig in at The Nation.

I think it is important when Western scholars speak about Thai politics, because it seems that they know what they are talking about for one, and it counters a lot of government propaganda that gets regurgitated in the English language Thai media, which only care about their vendettas against Thaksin.

Kavi did alright(being a spokesperson for the military), but he should give his Democracy Award back to the US and stop claiming he is a free speech advocate-- especially when he believes in neither principle.

Kavi is obviously spinning. ANsy clearly asks him: so, soldiers didn't kill anybody? and he says "no , no one"

he also said: "goverenment anounced how the mesures will proceed".. yeah?

Kavi, did they also anounced that soldiers will attack 2 hours before dawn, while it is still dark (so that nobody can see the shot people and corpses) ?

Kavi is as credible as Yoon or Thanong - he is also from nation as I recall.

well, what a surprise:

right now TTV (Nation’s TV channel) is showing a video footage of 2 corps floating in Chao Phraya river, and bystanders staring at it a some authorities try to retrive them.

TV reporters clearly said are Reds.

earlier there was also TV report video showing another corpse near the Dong Muang airport.

I especially like that Andy has mentioned that Nation newspaper was "continuously villifying" the rural voters, and "this kind of vilification is what causes such a frustration which leads to events as recently in Bkk" !

Andy, you surely have a lesson to teach to Kavi and his fellow "reporters" from Nation ! :)
