The Nation: So Self-Deluded That We Actually Believe Our Own Propaganda

NMG celebrates with pledge to younger journalists

Nation Multimedia Group celebrated its 36th anniversary yesterday with a vow to the younger generation of journalists to uphold long-held ethics, a commitment to professionalism and an unwavering stance on press freedom.
NMG celebrates with pledge to younger journalists

Deputy Premier Paiboon Wattanasiritham, sixth left, who called himself ‘an old friend’ of Nation Multimedia Group, poses with the media group’s executives and representatives of corporates sponsoring the ‘Thailand’s Tomorrow’ event marking the 36th anniversary.

The group launched a four-day educational and fun-filled event at Siam Paragon to celebrate the occasion. Chairing the opening ceremony was Deputy Prime Minister Paiboon Wattanasiritham, who hailed NMG as a guardian of the "three pillars" of the media: freedom, ethical responsibility and quality.

Suthichai, Thepchai, Tulsie, Thanong, Sophon and the rest really believe in their own bullshit.

It was really touching to see the junta's deputy stooge, ahem deputy prime minister, standing up as a friend of The Nation.

Only in Thailand would a newspaper allow a member of junta appointed government stand up and vouch for its journalistic integrity. The editors at The Nation are a disgrace to their profession.

I have decided that this propaganda photo will run neck and neck with another photo of the decade that sums up the integrity of another political actor that we all know and love.
