Mr Reconciliation Abhisit Needs Commando Protection to Visit Northeast

Bangkok Post

The Arintharat commando unit will escort Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva during his visit to Buri Ram today amid fears of a clash between pro- and anti-government groups.

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, who oversees national security, said the commando unit will accompany Mr Abhisit throughout his visit which will be under heavy security.

Mr Suthep has reportedly ordered the highest level of protection for the prime minister.

Mr Abhisit is expected to be greeted by both supporters and opponents in the northeastern province today.

For months and months before he came to power, he said he was the only person who could reconcile the country. He has obviously failed there. But he also said he was going to work magic on the economy and solve all the problems in the South. I can't think of one thing that Abhisit has promised that has come to fruition. He has a very long record of failure so far.
